P.O. box 879

Dear Patti,
On behalf of the vestry and people of Trinity Episcopal Church, Clanton, AL, I wish to thank you for the most generous gift by the SPCK of 155 theology, spirituality and biblical study books for our library. Trinity Church is a mission church within the diocese of Alabama, having now grown to over 45 members. Your kindness in such a gift is very much appreciated, especially as one of my goals for this year is to develop a good parish library focused on basic resources for both spiritual reading and research into issues and questions of our faith and Anglican tradition.

Trinity Church is the only Episcopal Church in Chilton County as well as Coosa and the northern part of Elmore and Autauga counties in central Alabama. The resources the SPCK have provided will assist in a significant way for the congregation to serve as a place of study and inquiry into questions of faith and tradition.

I am so appreciative of the support to us by SPCK. And in return for your support, I am asking our vestry to approve a small financial gift to the SPCK from our outreach budget.

I do hope you will have an opportunity to visit Trinity Church sometime so that you can see the results of your generosity to the teaching role of our small but growing community.

Again, thank you for your kindness in sharing some of your books with us.

Peace to you and blessings in all that you do.

William King,
Priest in Charge

SPCK/USA & Church Periodical Club to Send Bibles

October 3rd, 2007

Church Periodical Club LogoDonna Murray, CPC Director in the Diocese of Western North Carolina, called SPCK/USA to ask for their help on a couple of projects that needs Bibles. One project is to provide Bibles for an Episcopal priest from Kenya . The other is for Dr Post, a missionary in Belize, who has dedicated his life to helping the poorest of poor children in Mango Creek. He is in need of Bibles and sees about 200 children in his mission station every week.

What a coincidence that Donna lives in Asheville, NC and that Patti Joy Posan, Executive Director of SPCK/USA, is going to be there this weekend. Over 200 New Testaments have been packed at the Adopt-A-Seminary warehouse and will be delivered to Donna Murray for shipment by the Church Periodical Club to Belize and Kenya.

News from Karonga, Malawi

September 7th, 2007

August 16, 2007

Dear Patti Joy,

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

The Good News Bibles arrived yesterday … both bags. They will be used by the students at Chaminade Secondary School (40% are orphans) and MIRACLE Vocational School (100% orphans). They will be used every day in BIble Knowledge classes at Chaminade and Gospel Living at the MIRACLE School. THey we collect them and put them safely and properly in a special closet so they last longer and more people will benefit.

I have also taken a few Bibles for special ministries (to prisoners, refugees, hospital visits). The breakdown is:

100 Good News Bibles to Chaminade School
90 Good News Bibles to MIRACLE School
10 Good News Bibles to special ministries

The Word of God is Light and Power. It brings joy, knowledge, and the will to build the Kingdom of God right here in Karonga, Malawi; so the furture should be brighter.

Yours in the Risen Christ,
Bro Peter Daino

WILL YOU HELP SEND GOOD NEWS BIBLES TO MALAWI?

More Good News Bibles are needed. Please send contact SPCK/USA if you are willing to help with Good News Bibles. Also, just as important is with each Bible sent to include $2.00 to help with overseas shipping charges.

Gratitude from Ecuador

August 13th, 2007

Dear Director of SPCK/USA:

On behalf of The Rev Bishop Wilfrido Ramos, I express our deepest gratitude for the Christian Education material received on July 13, 2007. The valued material will be placed in our professional library where the Christian Education committee and teachers will have access to it. In our diocese and, in fact in the country as a whole, material for work especially in rural areas is hard to come by. Your support and material help is so appreciated.

Please express our feelings to all who had part in providing the material to us.

Faithfully yours,
The Rev Canon Marco Mejia

Good News Bibles & M.I.R.A.C.L.E. in Malawi

May 31st, 2007

For many years SPCK/USA has worked with the Marianist’s and Bro. Peter Daino to provide Good News Bibles to the children (all of whom have lost at least one parent to aids) at M.I.R.A.C.L.E. in Malawi.

WILL YOU HELP US SEND MORE GOOD NEWS BIBLES AND BOOKS TO M.I.R.A.C.L.E?

We received the following letter from Bro. Don Neff:

Thanks for the opportunity to “get acquainted” and keep up with the good work of SPCK/USA. We, that is the men in Africa … and the students really appreciate your interest and support. I was in Malawi last year and they “beg” me to send books … so I thought we would start with dictionaries and Bibles. I’m told textbooks are no good … because of the curriculum, however, Chaminade Secondary has no books. From what I saw, MIRACLE’s library was in much better shape than Chaminade Secondary.

Bro. Peter was home on visit in August-September and returned to Malawi - and worked at Chaminade in addition to the “new” Lusubilo Project.” But then it really isn’t a new project … but he has become more involved and has become the co-director. The main objective of Lusubilo is to care for the 8,000 plus orphans - infants to early childhood … but building Village Orphan Centers around the top of Malawi, i.e., in Karonga.

Twenty years ago Bro. Peter asked me to assist him in his work in Africa - and in addition to doing Mission Preaching, I am “trying” to assist and coordinate some of his many contacts.

Thanks again for your support.
Bro. Don Neff (Marianist)
