Board of Trustees Meeting, 2006The Annual Board of Trustees Meeting occurred on April 21-22, 2006. The meeting was held in Charleston, SC. The Chair, The Rt Rev William Skilton, reaffirmed his commitment to SPCK/USA and its mission. He said, “It is still the best kept secret in the Episcopal Church.” It was noted that this fiscal year over 6,500 “recycled” theological books have been donated to the Adopt-A-Seminary program, many of them coming as a result of the First Annual SPCK/USA Sunday Celebration.  And through this fiscal year over 7,000 books from the program have been shipped to: the Caribbean, Belize, Tanzania, Malawi, Uganda, and parishes in the United States. Bishops from over 40 dioceses send annual support to the Adopt-A-Seminary program through the Annual Bishop’s Appeal, as well as parishes and individual donors.Â

We do not know where the Church will be next year at this time.  We do know that it will not take away from the need for the ministry of SPCK/USA. There will still be souls to be saved, minds to be nourished, and people hungering to hear and read the Word of God. Christ - the same yesterday, today, tomorrow – gave us these words:

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Let us read these words and lift our eyes toward heaven, and say, “Here I am Lord, send me.”
